The Cohasset Youth Ambassadors program seeks to empower youth by raising awareness and educating the community about mental health and substance use. Through community events and leadership development, we provide resources and ensure teens are prepared to face life’s challenges.
Youth Ambassadors is a fun, enthusiastic, passionate group working with peers, community members, local businesses, and more to promote substance use prevention and mental health de-stigmatization. The CYA program is unlike any other extracurricular available in Cohasset, combining educational and social elements, while also teaching valuable life skills that will help participants succeed in the future.
Youth Ambassadors will have the opportunity to become leaders in the community, represent their peers, be a role model to younger students, and meet with elected officials and local leaders to bring their youth perspective to the table. Whether you are a middle-schooler who wants to become a role model for younger students, a senior who wants to advocate for your peers, an athlete looking for something to do in the off-season, or a student looking to build your resumé before college, this program is for YOU!
In the past, Cohasset Youth Ambassadors have worked with local legislators, organized community-wide events such as Cohasset Minds Matter, hosted educational programs at Osgood and Deer Hill Schools, visited the US capitol, and more!

“Safe Harbor has taught me the importance of my own opinion and the influence it can have on my peers. This is especially true in cases of mental health and substance abuse. While peer pressure can have a negative influence on others I have learned that it can also have a positive one. While it may be difficult to address the topic with peers, doing so often has greater power. Ultimately, Safe Harbor has taught me that my opinion and my actions have an impact on my community, both in Cohasset and the future.”

“To say the youth Ambassadors program influenced me would be an understatement. It shaped my fundamental beliefs and dictated the person I am today… Nothing has been more rewarding than helping the younger leaders, who were once in the same position as myself, cultivate the skills they need to become the next generation of leaders for the program.”

“I have observed several other students just like me become more comfortable and confident in themselves through CYA, and I love how impactful this community that we have created can be. Thanks to CYA, I have learned how to become a confident leader who is not only unafraid, but excited to work with and inspire others to become changemakers and advocate for a better community. I also feel so much more knowledgeable about mental health, and feel better equipped to help myself and others.”
