Americans have by the vast majority sided with the police’s heavy-handed actions on minorities, but like all problems with power in America, it’s only a matter of time before it becomes a problem for the majority. With the highest drug rates in the majority, not minority populations, it’s going to eventually turn cops on the majority, especially since the upper middle class and wealthy are the highest groups of drug users. So, we’ll see change.
Opiate-related overdose deaths have quadrupled in the U.S. since 2001. In 2014, Massachusetts had more than 1,250 deaths from heroin overdose; today, 85% of the crimes on Cape Cod are opiate-related.
